Fragrance Review

Patchouli 1969 from Maître Parfumeur et Gantier is one of my favorite spring time Patchouli fragrance. Patchouli name is derived from Tamil words, "patchai", which means green, and "ellai", which means leaf and belongs to mint family herb from Asia. Patchouli oil has an intense aroma, a combination of musk and earthiness, that's also mildly sweet and minty giving reminiscence of wet soil.

The name ''Patchouli 1969'' has a lot of history and refers to the Woodstock festival, musical highlight of the Hippie era that took place in Bethel (USA) in August of 1969. True to the hippies’ favourite fragrance, the accord is built for and around the patchouli flower. Patchouli note is intended to tell not only about Woodstock and hippies, but  also about the atmosphere of anti war, anti- nuclear and freedom protests of that time 

From the head notes, the scent of patchouli mixed with cardamom makes for a fresh and bright start.The elegant heart of the perfume blends this beautiful Indonesian flower with a floral bouquet of jasmine, rose and lotus flower. The base notes are Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier’s signature blend of sandalwood and musk, accompanied by rich vanilla.

Head Notes: Cardamom, Patchouli, Petit grain bigarade

Heart Notes: Patchouli, Jasmine, Rose, Elemi

Base Notes: Sandalwood, Muscs, Vanilla 

 

Patchouli theme in Patchouli 1969 is very fresh because the whole fragrance is built on cardamom, elemi, and patchouli. So, If you like or want to try Patchouli, this is worth giving a shot. Highly Recommended!
